The holiday season is critical for retail. Sales competition is fierce and in-store traffic is at its greatest for the year. To recruit seasonal talent, build efficiency and leverage the power of its brand portfolio, Gap Inc. created the Holiday Hiring event. Marketing and promotions centered on social media and in-store collateral to drive awareness and applications ahead of time. The campaign overall increased traffic by over 10%, improved candidate quality and converted a few sales in the process. Candidates are customers too.
Each store was provide a kit of parts that included posters, point of sale bag stuffers and key messages to ensure consistency. Employees were encouraged to share within their personal networks to increase reach organically.
